Psalms 119:130 (NKJV) “The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.”
One of the importance of light in the literal sense is that it helps a person make informed decisions. It helps a person see things clearly, and it aids understanding.
Light, in the context of this verse, serves the same purpose.
Light helps you to know things and helps you understand what you know.
The world is full of mystery and darkness. Not the absence of photons, but the absence of knowledge. Not the knowledge of chemistry or biology, but the knowledge of the Holy One of Israel.
This is important because God is the One who created the heavens and the earth, and He alone knows how best the world should operate.
- For you to understand any area of life, you must be educated by the Spirit of God. The Spirit of God teaches you how to run your finances (Proverbs 24:3).
Many people run from one financial coach to another in search of wisdom, without realizing that there is a spiritual aspect to life that must first be settled.
I once heard a story of someone who spent millions of naira to buy a shop and stock it with goods in a general market. The previous owner had heard that the government intended to demolish the market and decided to sell. The buyer was unaware of this development and went ahead with the purchase. In less than a month, the market was demolished.
If the buyer had sought the face of God before spending such an amount of money, such a great loss could have been avoided.
The Spirit of the Lord also teaches you how to run your marriage.
Many marriage counselors carry strange anointings; once you follow their advice, the marriage is doomed to fail.
The Spirit of God teaches you to number your days (Psalms 90:12).
For every age bracket, there is a specific wisdom that applies to it, and you must incline your heart to it.
For instance, the youthful stage of life is one in which a failure to know what you ought to do can have devastating effects later in life. Many young people blindly assume that this phase of life is only meant for enjoyment.
Through His Word, you gain insight into how to live wisely at every stage of your chronological age.
The darkness of the world is so great that only the knowledge of God can save a person.
Prayer:
Father, as I learn at Your feet, shine Your light into every dark area of my life.
