WHY PERSECUTEST THOU ME – SERMON BY ARM OF THE LORD CHRISTIAN MINISTRY

Acts 9:4,5 ( And he fell to the earth and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? And he said, ” Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecuted; it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.)

Jesus Christ asked Saul before he became Paul this question on his way to Damascus going for a mission against the church of God, persecuting them locking them inside prison and killing most of them who resisted him.

Jesus met him on the way and asked, why art thou persecuted me?

He asked Who art thou Lord that is persecuted thee?

Whoever prevents others from delivering the message of salvation is persecuting Christ. Whatever you do to His messenger, you do it to Christ; whether it’s good or evil, you will receive your reward.

I wonder what the Pharisees in Jesus time were thinking when they told people not to come and receive their healing on sabbath days?

Which day did they want them to come if not sabbath? Or should they come on ordinary days of work when Jesus wouldn’t be around to heal them or they themselves would have gone to their place of work to find something to do?

Its a wickedness to block men from receiving from God when they want and pretending that you care for them coming to the temple.

What Jesus called them is what they are, blocking others from the kingdom when they themselves wouldn’t enter.

The Bible says, “woe is he that fight with his maker” unfortunately human beings are fighting with their creator including those who are called by his name.

It’s not till they acted like apostle Paul on his way to Damascus breathing threats against the people of God, many of us are kicking against the pricks by blocking our congregation from learning the truth that can lead them to freedom.

When the elders in Jerusalem put the apostles in prison, the wise one among them warned them that if it is God’s counsel, they should not see themselves fighting against God.

Most churches have chased the one God sent to their midst because of envy, how will holy spirit manifest his presence among them?

They claim to work for God but hate the one he sent to them, it’s your leg not bleeding from the constant kicking against the pricks?

If God started fighting against some people in the church, ignorant people will blame God and say he doesn’t answer prayer, whatever you do in secret shall be rewarded to you openly.

Some leaders has transfer their supposed enemy in the church to a remote area, thinking they’re competing with them on the pulpit, when they don’t know that the man is the angel God has placed in their church to lead souls to their destination in him.

Jesus is not only asking Paul but you also, why persecuted thou me?

Paul was deceived into thinking that by killing men for God he was doing God’s service; likewise, Satan has deceived many because they have rejected the truth that came to set them free from this delusion and end up kicking their legs against pricks.

A god that his followers must defend in battle is not fit to be God, if he can’t fight for himself how will he fight on behalf of his people?

The true God is the mighty one of Jacob he doesn’t need human help, he fights for his people whether they know it or not, if you’re trying to fight for him, you will end up as his enemy.

Remember Ussah who died while defending the ark of the covenant from falling, a god you must defend isn’t real.

Jesus forbid anyone from passing judgment on others for that only belongs to God, in the place of passing judgment you are condemning yourself also, this is what those who fight for God do which puts them in condemnation themselves.

Who knows that Saul would become Paul that will bring the gospel to the Gentiles, had the apostles prayed for his death and killed him, what would have happened to the gospel?

We keep on losing men to Satan for our attitude toward the men who bring the messages of salvation, by thinking that God is limited to us and can’t use anyone aside from us and stop our members from going to where their eyes will open to see the truth.

No wonder the Bible says, first shall be the last and the last shall be the first, God will judge each person according to their motives.

Prayer: Father lord guide and protect your missionaries out there from the hands of wolves in sheep’s clothing, in Jesus name amen
