Mark 10:21 ( Then Jesus beholding him, loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor; and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and take up thy cross and follow me)
The injunction which Jesus gave the poor is also what he gave to the rich, he didn’t discriminate in preaching his message, which he came to the world to deliver.
This is also what he told those who willingly want to be his disciples amongst the crowd, which is to take up your cross, deny yourself and follow me.
These three areas are what we need to fulfil in coming to perfection in God.
Human nature seeks to know who to follow, they follow the one who meets their heart’s desires, it was wired into us from the beginning, we’re dependent in nature which is why we elect kings and leaders whom we think we can lay our burden upon, who will bring rest from all troubles.
Unfortunately, natural man cannot carry his own burden not to talk of liften the burden of others, Daniel proves the desire of men wrong in his days, when they asked everyone to turn their burden to their king, he prayed to God for he knew that he was the only one who could remove man’s burden and God inturn proved him right.
Satan took these advantages to stand in the middle of the way to redirect man to himself.
Some people that seems to know the way don’t actually know where they are going, I heard of a prophet who told his followers that he didn’t know the way, they should ask the followers of Jesus Christ to direct them to the right path, I wonder if they had done it, many of them wouldn’t have become God’s enemies.
Jesus says, he is the way, the truth and the life, if you follow the way to eternity you won’t land yourself in a forbidden dry land where rebellious souls dwell.
Many are trooping there en masse because of whom they followed.
It’s quite unfortunate that instead of Christians following Jesus directly they are searching for whom to follow, even when the veil of the temple was rent in two.
But if that one doesn’t know the way, they will find themselves at a point of no return.
Jesus didn’t say, follow denominations, he didn’t say, follow a man of God, he says, follow me directly, why is it that we abandoned him and follow a man who doesn’t know where he is going and jeopardise our eternity?
Any man who pulled you away from Christ and chose to be your leader isn’t sent by God; a leadership position carries many responsibilities and it’s only the benefits we look unto, not minding the responsibilities that follow.
This responsibility is to lead men to Jesus Christ himself and to follow his word, many have led many people astray in the cause of leading people, they put their own doctrines above the one of Christ, making them worship man instead of God.
Instead of leading men to christ they lead men to themselves, blind leading the blinds which all of them will find themselves in the pit.
“Follow me” You can’t follow Jesus Christ unless you deny yourself of your right to the things of the world, denying self of the things that matter, denying self of earthly heritage to focus on what eyes cannot see.
Is not easy to follow him if your cross is too scary for you to bear, some choose others’ cross aside their own and become another’s photocopies, all that Jesus required from man works together to bring believers into perfection in God.
If you deny yourself and bear your cross without following christ will only lead you halfway to the top, and won’t complete the plan and purpose of God for your life.
Following Christ will lead you to the shore of eternal life, even when it seems the road is narrow and full of danger, he knows how to manoeuvre you out of danger and the pit that Satan dug for human souls.
He is the light of men, no one follows him and walks in darkness, you’ll see the hiding place of Satan and avoid falling into his
temptations through the leading of holy spirit.
Some people follow him from the beginning but we’re distracted on the way by the cares of the world and deceitfulness of riches, thinking they are still keeping their pace, until they reach the end, and discover that they’ve missed it all along but it would have been too late.
Some prophets on their death bed became confused as they’re expecting God’s angel to welcome them to the shore of eternity, they saw the angel of death; some were singing and smiling on the way and their laughter turned to wailing as they were diverted to the broad way, because of things that doesn’t matter but weigh in Satan’s eyes enough to direct them to his side.
Have you realised if you are still on the right path, for the way of Christ is narrow and straight, it’s only when you follow him that you’ll see the world with the eyes of God.
When your life is directionless, check who you follow, you shared blessing or curses depending on who you follow, you become partakers in sin with the person you follow, this is the danger of following those whom God hasn’t approved.
Those who follow paedophile leaders are in danger of becoming one, unless they change their direction of life and follow the sinless man.
There are demons out there seeking who will worship them, they go about in the name of celebrities, ready to lead souls to the realms of the prince of the world, Don’t you know that the number of people led to the realm of the prince of the world is the level of their earthly glory given by Satan?
The person you follow proves your inner wanton and desires, some follow prophecy, while some follow men who had vision, and some follow men who have the word, you choose what you follow by your secret longing, when you truly desire heaven, you will follow the way that leads there, which is Jesus Christ, when God becomes your hearts desire, you will follow his word.
