Elohim is one of the most frequently used names for God in the Scriptures. It is this word which is used in Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning [Elohim] created the heavens and the earth.” In fact the word appears some 2,750 times in the Old Testament.
God is the General Overseeing Being. An overseer is someone whose authority determines how things are being done in the jurisdiction of his power. For instance, the District Overseer of a Foursquare Gospel Church region; his authority is only limited to the churches in the district of his region.
This means that God’s authority over-rules everything that goes on in heaven and on earth. His rule transcends even to the depth of hell.
What does this mean?
- As children of God, it means that your father being the king of kings gives you unlimited access to the earth. Psalms 24:1 tells us that God owns the earth and he can give a portion of the earth and the resources therein to whosoever pleases him Matthew 5:5.
Maybe you are trusting God for admission into a university of your choice. Do you know what you should do? Take the request to the Elohim; the Yahweh. He will sort things out in your favour.
Meanwhile, there is a catch. Matthew 5:5 says “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth”. Are you meek?
In simple terms, are you a polite person to your mates, are you respectful to your elders, are you patient with your juniors etc?
