2 Cor 6:17, 18 ( Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separated, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean things; and I will receive you, and I will be a father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty)
To bring those who are rooted in cultures and traditions, that respects it more than the word of God to Christ is practically impossible without bringing their culture over with them. This is what happened in Rome at the beginning of the gospel.
The youth there said that until they bring the image of Diana to the church their parents won’t allow them to participate in their worship, this is what led to the worship of Mary when the believers then said, they will turn the image of Diana into the image of Virgin Mary, the mother of God.
This is the cause of division and pollution that ravages Christianity and allows Satan to lord it over the first church.
Some people in other nations who are so rooted in idolatry and culture with cultism have brought their beliefs to the church of God, teaching Christians yoga, astral travels and psychic to the company of the saints which they imbibe with the doctrines of Christ.
No wonder the Lord says, ‘Many are called, but few are chosen.’ It’s the chosen ones who’ll become separated from culture and traditions, which won’t be another load that will prevent them from entering the gate of heaven.
If Christ has redeemed you, he has redeemed you totally from every entanglement of the world, he has perfected everything about your salvation on the cross when he said, “it’s finished”.
He can deliver to the uttermost for those who believe in him and trust in his unchanging grace, his blood is enough to perfect the work of cleansing and rinsing everything of the works of darkness if we permit him.
No wonder the Bible declares that there are many that are striving to enter but they couldn’t, their traditions are holding them bond, this load of traditions and cultures will prevent you from entering the gate of heaven if you hold onto it.
No nation or tribe doesn’t have its own, even the Jews had their own which Christ spoke against, its separation that God is demanding from individuals who want to inherit the kingdom of heaven and be a partaker of its heritage.
That is why the Bible says, come out of them, do not touch unclean things, don’t pollute yourself with the properties of the devil, God is ready to deliver you, but it’s when you separate yourself.
Satan knows that you can’t make heaven with all these attachments of his kingdom, that is why he entrenched culture into our fabric to pull us down from attaining the stature of Christ demanded by God.
Even God changed the names of some people in the Bible to fit into their purpose in life, how will he leave culture unchanged when he knows that it will block their relationship with him?
He told the Israelites not to copy the way of the heathen and warned them not to inquire how they worship their gods, nor mention their names, this is to prevent intercultural and interrelation among his people.
Christians are still frying cake in remembrance of their dead parents, most of them even bring it to church for their members to eat out of it to honour the dead, which is never permitted in the Bible.
The dead had nothing to do with the living they’re facing their judgment, frying cake or cooking for them won’t take them to heaven if they’re in hell, if the dead won’t help themselves how will they help the living?
Come out from them, do not touch unclean things, there is no relationship between the dead and the living, no concord between righteousness and unrighteousness.
Circumcision is the tradition and culture of the children of Abraham that confirms their covenant with God, the first church is trying to impose it upon believers, but apostle Paul refused it to be so, we are no longer held down by traditions but by the word of God.
