PREPARE TO MEET THY GOD – BIBLE STUDY SERMON

Amos 4:12 ( Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because of I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel)

This passage discusses spiritual readiness and accountability before God.

The most foolish person on earth is the one who won’t prepare for a journey he is about to embark on, how will you go on a journey without making provisions for it, no extra clothes, no money no preparation for transport?

If not he will become stranded and turn to a stranger for help, not that he can see who will help him sincerely.

How are you sending your treasure to the heavenly domain that’ll take care of your need for eternity?

We build a house that we’ll only spend some years inside, some might not even sleep a night in their new house before meeting their creator.

Without preparation for your eternal habitation, you come to the world in vain, it’s your good works towards God and man that determine where to spend eternity.

This is the condition of many people on earth, we were given days to prepare for eternity but instead, we are busy with things that don’t contribute to our eternity.

Life itself is a journey, yesterday is gone, tomorrow is uncertain today is our own to prepare for the future, one step closer to eternity, as we celebrate each year, we are getting closer to the end of our lives.

No one can go back to undo what was done yesterday, but we can decide not to make the same mistake as yesterday, so as not to affect our future.

A man was preparing for his future when his farm made a large crop, he was thinking of how to increase his stores and place his goods, for him to enjoy more on earth, not knowing that that would be the day that his soul would be required of him.

Had he made provisions with that little harvest, and added the poor in his calculation, and distributed it to them, he might have lived his life in eternity for the enjoyment of what he had sent over there.

That is the reason we should live as if today will be the last, for we don’t know when it actually will be.

We brought nothing to the world we fight for everything that we will still leave behind and go to eternity without taking anything with us.

It’s what you do for the benefit of others that’ll be your gain in eternity.

What is the essence of struggling when you don’t know when you’ll leave or whom you will leave it for, that is why the Bible says, we should put our treasure in heaven where thieves or moth would not corrupt.

This world is a dressing room for eternity, no matter how many years we spend on earth is nothing compared with eternity, it’s your relationship with God and people that determines where to spend eternal life.

Love the lord your God with all your heart with all your soul, and with all your might, the second one is just like that, love your neighbours as yourself, on this hang the law and the prophets, this is the whole duty of man while he lives.

This is the reason you’re created and the purpose of your recreation, the reason you are born and the reason you’re born again.

Whoever lacks one of these two lacks in all, what will you tell God when you leave the earth?

Your relationship with God and your relationship with man are the measurements of how you live your life and how you’ll be rewarded.

No one is an island, if someone gives you a mansion with all the material things that’ll make the place convenient, and warns you not to invite anyone to come and enjoy with you, you alone will live inside without any of your family members, will you agree to such a condition?

It will be better to live in a room with people you love than living in such a kind of building, that is how life is you can’t live without others.

The standard of God is not the house you built, the car you bought, or the materials, this is what Satan uses as a distraction not to focus on the reasons you came.

If you don’t meet with divine standards, you come to the world in vain and live a wasted life.

John came to the world to reveal the saviour of the world to mankind, no wife or children, I was even wondering, which position will he take in heaven, as Elijah or John the Baptist? But Jesus clarified him as the greatest of all the prophets and Elijah carries the mantle of all the prophets.

This is John the Baptist who came to fulfil what heaven is written about him, he decreased while Christ increased.

No house was built in his name, but he lived in the wilderness, he only fed on honey and locusts, and was later beheaded for saying the truth, what will be your testimony on that day?

What are your impacts on the church of God? What is your contribution to the edification of his kingdom?

Jesus Christ released everything in him for the betterment of humanity, to the last pint of his blood for the remission of sin, what is your contribution that will make people feel your impact and praise God for sending you to the world?

If you go back to God without contributing things deposited inside of you, you are not different from the man with one talent who buried it without bringing profits for the lord’s investment over his life.

What will happen is that God will take that little from you and give it to the person who utilised his own and make your portion with unbelievers.

A woman died in the hospital and when she saw Jesus Christ, he asked her about her account, the woman was trembling saying what is account, I don’t have anything to give you. Then, Jesus was filled with rage and told her that, you don’t have an account and you are calling for death on your hospital bed.

Go back to the world and bring your account, then the woman woke up, she now realised that she doesn’t have the right to die without accomplishing what God sent her to do.

I pity those who commit suicide because of frustration from the pit of hell, they don’t create their own life and they don’t have the right to end it, all depends on God’s sovereignty.

Some filled their own account book with junk, while some patiently filled it with what would be of benefit for humanity

Your record since when you were born is wiped by the blood of Jesus the moment you’re born-again, a new record is opened to you which you must fill with good works and what God sent you to do, don’t let the devil find things in your record that will trigger his accusations against your existence.

If your account doesn’t match God’s program for your life, it will remove your name from the book of life and count you with those who come to the world in vain, its your choice whatever is written in your book, that is what will be in your hand to meet with God and give an account of what you have done in the flesh.

Prayer: Father lord, don’t let me come to the world in vain, give me the ability to fulfil what you sent me to do, in Jesus name amen
