Isaiah 49:23 ( And the kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their face towards the earth, and kick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD; for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me)
Every living and non-living thing waits on the Lord for its supplies: beasts in the forest wait on the Lord, fish in the sea wait for divine provisions and protection, and plants wait on God for the supplies of rain for them to grow and bring forth fruit in abundance.
Humans are not left out; everyone is waiting on him for one thing or another. However, those who genuinely wait on him shall have their strength renewed and mount up with the wings of an eagle. They shall walk and never weary, run and never be tired.
The waiting period is the time of trials and temptations, the period of testing to see if your faith is resting on His unchanging grace. However, some are not aware of it and run out of the quarry ground, becoming a cake that is not edible for consumption.
The period of waiting is what disqualified many Christians from the race, they are distracted by things that don’t add to their value and run out from learning at the lord’s feet to end up subtracting from the divine plan for their lives.
Trials take years, months, and days, according to the plan of God for everyone.
Moses’ preparations took forty years while Abraham’s took twenty-five years, Joseph with David took thirteen years each to prepare to take up the mantle of leadership prepared by God, how many years do you think your own will take, it all depends on God’s sovereignty.
The more you wait on him the more persevering you become, the more your patience increases, and the more you become humble knowing that this world is not your own you are just passing through.
It’s the waiting period that builds up the fruit of the spirit deposited in you in conversion, and makes you grow to reach the level of Christ’s stature; most people who walk out of the waiting room have become photocopies of others instead of becoming like Christ.
All God’s children who are called must pass through this, if they want to belong among the chosen.
If you’re yet to experience the period of waiting, it’s either you’re not called or you’re on the waiting list.
You’re not created to be another Kumuyi or Adeboye, no one can replace them, you’re made to become yourself operating in the image of Christ.
Jesus Christ is the example for Christians to follow, no one can grow past their master, a mature Christian will be like Christ, but he said, the work he did, we will do more than that if we live in him.
Isaac was greater than Abraham and Jacob was greater than his father, this is the level Christ is taking us to until we reach the measurements of his stature.
Standing behind a man of God won’t make you greater than him, you can be on the same level but when you stand behind Christ you can be elevated beyond measure.
There is a price to pay to reach that level and this price is waiting in his presence, you resemble whom you follow, to wait and follow Christ we must also experience the fellowship of his suffering.
God isn’t taking man out of Adam to resemble another Adam, waiting on him is to bring to perfection the works of Calvary that will remove the traits of Adam and endow us with his spirit, if you refused to wait on him how do you meet the level of his stature?
He renewed the strength of Sarah, even though she was old enough to be a grandmother; the king still coveted her beauty and wanted to take her as wife before God intervened.
He renewed the strength of Moses that at age one hundred and twenty his strength did not abates not his eyes grow dim.
It can only be God, even eyes have not yet seen nor ears have heard what God prepares for those who wait on him.
Men can still be making a mockery of you now, but if God arises all his enemies shall scattered.
If God asked you to wait in Lagos and you move to Abuja thinking that God will pass there to meet you, you deceive yourself; it’s where he told you to wait that he will meet you even if it takes years.
Many lost their purpose while waiting on God, they go to shrines and groves thinking that is where God is, thereby losing the reason they were created.
Waiting is a period of testing, he test your patience and perseverance, Noah waited for a hundred years, under the mockery of unbelievers who never believed in God’s existence until rain fell to justify his waiting and they all lost to the flood.
Waiting is the most difficult thing to do, if it permits you to walk maybe you will see him at the front, No, you wait where he approved as Elijah waited at the brook before God appeared.
Waiting time is not wasted as long as you’re in presence, let him fashion you the way he wants for you to be what he created you to be, he is the potter you’re the clay, if the clay is marred, it depends on the potter to remake it to suit his purpose.
People will mock you as they mock Noah, they will make jest of you as one who doesn’t have business to do, but God who asked you to wait for him will never fail or disappoint you.
It’s only those who wait on God that reach their destination, the road may be narrow while the journey is long and stressful, he is the only one who knows the road that leads to your destination, he is ready to take you there without passing shortcuts.
He didn’t say you won’t be weary when you’re waiting but he is there to renew your strength, like he did for the men of old, he is there to do it for you too. It’s only those who wait for him that will have their strength renewed, even in old age he will be their succour and present help in time of trouble.
Prayer: Father lord, I depend on you don’t let me be ashamed, and let not my enemies rejoice over me, in Jesus mighty name, amen
